It’s not often that I become super excited by developments happening with Bing Ads. Typically the new feature in Bing is something that was launched with Google Ads six months prior. However, this week Bing launched a new ad extension that has potential to greatly increase clickthrough rates with ads, Action Extensions.
Action Extensions are a Game Changer
With the action extension on mobile, it adds in an icon/link at the bottom of the ad, drawing the user’s eye and prompting them with a strong call to action such as Reserve Now, Book Now, or Learn More. On desktop it’s even more prominent with an actual button within the search results pages.
For advertisers that are on their game, this can be huge as not many have implemented this, so it has the potential to really boost CTRs and traffic to your site.
However, this ad extension can’t increase the number of users that Bing has, but sly advertisers may be able to squeeze more out of the lower traffic numbers, making their investment in to Bing ads much more valuable.

It’s going to be interesting to see just how much these action (Call To Action) extensions can improve CTRs with Bing and how long, if ever, Google takes to implement these as well.
For now, we’re adding these to our client’s accounts and will be seeing what impact they have on their accounts.
If nothing else, it’s refreshing to see Bing leading the charge on the innovation front with paid search.
